Does Planning Still Work?

I was chatting with a friend the other day and she told me that she, along with her family, decided at the spur of the moment to visit a food marketplace they have wanted to go to but never found the time. She said they have made a couple of plans in the past to visit the place but almost always something came up causing them to forego their plans. Finally, they were able to visit the place on a whim, without even planning.

Then she said that sometimes, it’s better to just act on impulse than plan because often, having a concrete plan spoils everything. This made me think, “Is that why I can’t seem to accomplish my plan of losing weight?” I have been laying out diet plans for God knows how long but until know, I’m still barely started with the whole process.

Maybe I should just try to lose weight on a whim rather than set up a rigid set of dos and don’ts. What do you think? Do you think I could lose weight without planning a regimen?
