One of the most famous herbal medicines is Panax quinquefolius Linn or better known as ginseng. The record of its uses dates back in the olden times especially in China. Ginseng was then used by royal people as an elixir for intellectual and physical performance and to increase energy because of ginsenosides it contains.
Ginseng is said to help the body in maintaining the digestive system’s health and encourage appetite. It also helps the body to adapt to stressful conditions like exertion, trauma, sleep deprivation, toxic exposure, radiation, infection and psychological stress.
Usually ginseng is boiled and drank as a tea. Sometimes they put it together with wine to be aged in time.
